We recommend a check-up and clean every 6 months for most patients. Some people with a higher risk of decay or gum disease may need more frequent visits — your dentist will advise you at your appointment based on your individual needs.
Your dentist will examine your teeth, gums and bite, check for signs of decay, gum disease or other issues, take X-rays if needed, and perform a professional clean. You'll receive personalised advice on your home care routine and any recommended treatments.
Most extras health insurance policies cover routine check-ups and cleans. We process all major health funds on-the-spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap — or nothing at all, depending on your level of cover. Contact your insurer to confirm your entitlements.
Tooth-coloured (composite resin) fillings are matched to the natural shade of your teeth, making them virtually invisible. They bond directly to your tooth, require less drilling than traditional amalgam fillings, and are safe for the whole family including children.
Modern root canal treatment is performed under local anaesthetic and is generally no more uncomfortable than having a filling. Most patients are relieved to find it's far gentler than expected — and it removes the pain caused by the infection rather than causing it.
