Custom Mouthguards in Western Sydney

Professionally fitted sports mouthguards and night guards for teeth grinding — superior protection and comfort at our Ropes Crossing Village clinic.

Protection That Actually Fits — and Gets Worn

A mouthguard is only effective if it fits properly and feels comfortable enough to wear consistently. Custom-fitted mouthguards made from precise impressions of your teeth offer dramatically better protection than generic boil-and-bite options — they are more comfortable, stay in place during contact, and provide even shock absorption across your entire arch.

We make two types of mouthguards. Sports mouthguards protect teeth, gums, lips and jaw from impacts during contact and collision sports — essential for children and adults playing football codes, hockey, martial arts, basketball and more. Night guards (also called occlusal splints) protect teeth from the damaging effects of bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching during sleep), which can cause significant wear, fractures and jaw pain over time.

Getting a custom mouthguard takes just two short appointments — an impression visit and a fit appointment. We offer a range of colours and laminate thicknesses for sports guards, and precisely calibrated hard or soft materials for night guards depending on your grinding pattern and clinical needs.

Custom-Fitted — Not One-Size-Fits-All

The difference between a custom guard and a chemist guard is the difference between protection that works and protection that does not.

Superior Fit & Retention

Made from precise impressions of your teeth, a custom mouthguard fits snugly without needing to be bitten into place. It stays put during sport and allows you to speak and breathe normally — something boil-and-bite guards often cannot achieve.

Better Shock Absorption

Custom guards use superior materials with consistent thickness calibrated for your jaw — providing even shock distribution across the arch. This significantly reduces the risk of tooth fractures, lip lacerations and jaw injuries during impact.

Night Guards Protect Your Investment

Teeth grinding causes significant wear to enamel, cracks fillings and can fracture teeth — often silently over years. A night guard absorbs the force of grinding and prevents this progressive damage, protecting both natural teeth and any restorations.

Available for the Whole Family

We make custom mouthguards for children and adults. Kids playing contact sport should have a properly fitted guard — we'll check the fit at each subsequent appointment as their teeth continue to develop.

Mouthguards — Your Questions Answered

Custom mouthguards are made from impressions of your specific teeth and fabricated in a lab using materials with consistent thickness and proper shock-absorbing properties. Chemist boil-and-bite guards are generic, often bulky, poorly retentive and provide uneven protection. For proper impact protection, custom is strongly recommended — especially for children.
Sports mouthguards typically last 1–2 seasons with regular use. Children's guards may need replacing more frequently as their mouths grow. Night guards tend to last 3–5 years depending on the severity of grinding. We can check your guard at any routine appointment.
A night guard does not stop the grinding behaviour — it protects your teeth from the damage grinding causes. If stress or sleep disorders are driving your bruxism, we may also refer you for management of the underlying cause.
As soon as they start playing contact sport. We recommend custom mouthguards from around age 7 onwards when most of the adult front teeth have erupted. Younger children can also benefit — speak to us and we'll advise based on their dental development.
Many extras health insurance policies include mouthguards under the major dental or preventive dental category. Bring your health fund card and we'll check your entitlements via HICAPS on the day.
