Child Dental Benefits Schedule
What Is the CDBS?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government program administered through Medicare that provides eligible children with access to up to $1,095 in dental benefits over two consecutive calendar years. It is designed to help families access essential preventive and restorative dental care for their children at no out-of-pocket cost.
Serene Family Dental is a registered Medicare CDBS provider. For eligible treatments, we bulk bill directly to Medicare, meaning no gap payment, no upfront cost for the covered services within your child's available benefit amount. Just bring your child's Medicare card to the appointment — we do the rest.
The CDBS covers a broad range of essential dental services, from routine check-ups and cleans through to fillings, fissure sealants, fluoride treatments, and even simple extractions. It does not cover orthodontic treatment, cosmetic procedures, or hospital-related dental care.
Families in western Sydney — including Penrith, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, St Marys, Jordan Springs, and Ropes Crossing — can access CDBS treatment at our clinic. We offer extended hours including weekday evenings and Saturdays, so you do not need to take time off work or school for your child's appointment.
If you are unsure whether your child is eligible, simply call us or bring their Medicare card on the day. We can check CDBS entitlement on the spot using Medicare's real-time system. You can also check eligibility yourself through myGov or by calling Medicare on 132 011.
