CDBS Bulk Billing Dentist
in Western Sydney

Serene Family Dental bulk bills eligible children under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule — up to $1,095 in Medicare-funded dental care for children aged 2 to 17. Serving Penrith, Blacktown, Mount Druitt and across western Sydney.

What Is the CDBS?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government program administered through Medicare that provides eligible children with access to up to $1,095 in dental benefits over two consecutive calendar years. It is designed to help families access essential preventive and restorative dental care for their children at no out-of-pocket cost.

Serene Family Dental is a registered Medicare CDBS provider. For eligible treatments, we bulk bill directly to Medicare, meaning no gap payment, no upfront cost for the covered services within your child's available benefit amount. Just bring your child's Medicare card to the appointment — we do the rest.

The CDBS covers a broad range of essential dental services, from routine check-ups and cleans through to fillings, fissure sealants, fluoride treatments, and even simple extractions. It does not cover orthodontic treatment, cosmetic procedures, or hospital-related dental care.

Families in western Sydney — including Penrith, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, St Marys, Jordan Springs, and Ropes Crossing — can access CDBS treatment at our clinic. We offer extended hours including weekday evenings and Saturdays, so you do not need to take time off work or school for your child's appointment.

If you are unsure whether your child is eligible, simply call us or bring their Medicare card on the day. We can check CDBS entitlement on the spot using Medicare's real-time system. You can also check eligibility yourself through myGov or by calling Medicare on 132 011.

CDBS Eligibility Criteria

Your child may be eligible if they meet both of the following conditions.

1

Age 2 to 17

Your child must be between 2 and 17 years old at the time of the dental service. Once a child turns 18, they are no longer eligible for CDBS.

2

Qualifying Government Payment

You or your child must have received a qualifying Commonwealth Government payment at any time during the calendar year. Qualifying payments include Family Tax Benefit Part A, Carer Payment, Carer Allowance, Dad and Partner Pay, Double Orphan Pension, or Special Benefit.

3

$1,095 Available Benefit

Once eligible, up to $1,095 is available over two consecutive calendar years per child. Any unused balance within the two-year period is forfeited. Benefits are calculated per child, not per family.

Not sure if your child is eligible? Call Medicare on 132 011, check via myGov, or simply bring your child's Medicare card and we will check on the spot at your appointment. Eligibility can change year to year based on your payment status.

Using Your CDBS at Serene Family Dental

The process is simple. We handle all the Medicare paperwork on your behalf.

1

Book an Appointment

Call us on (02) 9053 1995 or book online. Let us know your child is a CDBS patient when you book. We offer morning, evening, and Saturday appointments across our extended trading hours.

2

Bring Your Child's Medicare Card

At your appointment, present your child's Medicare card. We will check their CDBS eligibility and available balance in real time through Medicare's online system — no phone calls required on your end.

3

We Confirm Eligibility & Provide a Treatment Plan

If treatment is needed beyond the routine check-up and clean, we will provide a written treatment plan and an itemised fee estimate. We will show you clearly which services are covered by the CDBS and what, if anything, may attract an out-of-pocket cost before we proceed.

4

Treatment Is Carried Out

Your child receives their dental care. Our team uses a gentle, child-friendly approach. Parents are welcome to stay in the treatment room throughout.

5

We Bulk Bill Directly to Medicare

For eligible CDBS-covered services within the benefit cap, we submit the claim directly to Medicare. No forms for you to fill in, no receipts to chase — it is handled entirely in-clinic.

CDBS-Friendly Care That Goes the Extra Mile

No Out-of-Pocket for Eligible Treatments

We bulk bill all CDBS-eligible dental services directly to Medicare. Within the $1,095 benefit cap, there is no charge to you for covered treatments. We are transparent about any costs before treatment begins.

We are open Monday to Saturday, including evenings until 7:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays until 7 pm. Dental appointments without taking a day off school or work.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CDBS is an Australian Government program administered through Medicare that provides eligible children aged 2 to 17 with up to $1,095 in dental benefits over two consecutive calendar years. It covers essential preventive and restorative dental services. Orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, and hospital-based dental care are excluded.
Your child is likely eligible if they are aged 2 to 17 and you received Family Tax Benefit Part A, Carer Payment, Carer Allowance, Dad and Partner Pay, Double Orphan Pension, or Special Benefit during the calendar year. You can check via myGov, by calling Medicare on 132 011, or simply bring your child's Medicare card and we will check on the spot.
Yes. For all eligible treatments within your child's CDBS benefit balance, we bulk bill directly to Medicare. There is no gap payment or out-of-pocket cost for the covered services. If treatment is recommended beyond what the CDBS covers, we will provide a written quote before proceeding.
The $1,095 covers two consecutive calendar years. For example, if eligible in 2025, benefits cover 2025 and 2026. Unused balance does not carry over beyond the two-year period. Benefits are per child, not per family — each eligible child in your household has their own separate $1,095.
Yes, but the CDBS and private health fund benefits cannot be combined for the same service on the same visit. You can choose to use CDBS for eligible items and your private fund for others during the same appointment. Our front desk team will help you understand which combination offers the best coverage for your child's needs.
If your child needs treatment beyond the CDBS cap, the remaining fees are charged at our standard rates. We always provide a written treatment plan and full cost breakdown before commencing any work, so you can make an informed decision. Payment plans through humm are also available to help manage costs.
Just bring your child's Medicare card (or the family Medicare card that includes the child). If your child has existing dental records, X-rays, or a health care card, these are also helpful to bring along. We handle all the Medicare paperwork on your behalf — no forms to fill in.
